Warehouse Storage Automation

 Wednesday, May 08, 2013

There are many challenges facing warehouse storage companies in todays climate. Small orders, short delivery times and increasing labour costs to name but a few.

Cost reduction solutions are therefore of major interest to warehousing companies to be able to optimise spec, and reduce operational costs. Automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) is one such development that is helping warehouse storage companies to stay competitive. This enables storage density to be increased significantly, and shuttle systems that can handle many difference loads.

Flexible microshuttles are also helping to improve the warehousing logistics, by moving between different levels of storage via a lift. Systems are also looking into different order picking options that will allow customer orders to be processed quickly and efficiently.
